Shelton Prison In Washington State

Question

Anyone been there? My husband who is 21 was just sentenced and i am wondering what he will going through in there? I read the prison's online site and i was just wanting to hear from someone who actully went there.. Also if they were released on good behavior and how early was there release?

I got 21 months and did 14 of them in Medium security prison. I just got out 12-19-07.

Sitting in jail before I was sentenced was the scariest thing that's ever happened to me. I didn't know if I was getting 5 years, 10 years, or what prison would be like.

Getting strip searched constantly, shackled and thrown on a bus for 12 hours across the state to receiving was all not very fun, and seeing the outside of prisons at first is very scairy. It looks extremely menacing in appearance.

Closed custody is no joke and you'd better be strong mentally or physically to get through it or you will get taken advantage of.

As long as you act right and aren't a rapo or predetor you will generally be allright though in the system.

Medium or low security prison is not scairy. It is easy to do time in, and the people are generally tolerable and not the biggest pieces of **** in the system. It is annoying having a different mentality than most other inmates, but nothing you can't get through.

It is the best thing that ever happened to me, as I figured myself out, learned what I was about, learned who my true friends were, gained a lot of knowledge (in books, not about crime!) and came out a much more confident person, having been put through the many struggles of prison.

Fortunately, the prison I was at had individual showers. The intake prison in Shelton, WA and closed custody units almost everywhere have 1 big shower and are the kind you see in movies, which is not cool at all. Possibly the worst thing about going through the system.
