  1. technical term is sticky key --- get a cannister of compressed air from frys electronics, staples or office depot and clean out the keyboard.  stop eating donuts whilst typing also !!

  2. Your keyboard is broken. It may have gotten wet or a high pressure dislodges the keys/circuitry. Try to replace it or unplug it and try on another computer. If it works on another computer then the keyboard is fine.

  3. Make sure Sticky Keys isnt on. press either shift key 5 times rapidly, and make sure that it is turned off. Good luck

  4. Are you positive that you are using your shift key and not your tab? Not trying to insult your intelligence or anything but that shift key is making a tab move. Maybe you should try your tab as your shift key. Also your left side is usually where the tab key is so maybe you don't have a shift key on your left side(maybe even a manufacture mistake). You could also try the categories hardware and/or software of computers here they might be able to help more.

  5. The shift key's function may have been changed by accident.

You will need to go in and set it to what you want it to be.

This might be of some help on how to do it:

  6. Try hitting shift and ctrl at the same time.

  7. For goodness' sake!!  Almost sounds like you have the wrong keyboard type chosen but I'd try using the mouse to click Start --> Shutdown --> Restart and see if the problem is still there when you restart - sometimes a restart makes these peculiar problems go away without us ever figuring out what caused it.

If you do have the wrong type of keyboard selected, you probably have something like a 108-key instead of 102-key or vice versa OR it may be set to Dvorjak layout instead of QWERTY layout.  QWERTY is standard keyboard layout; Dvorjak is ABCDEF....

Of course, it could be a virus causing it....  restart in Safe Mode and run your scans.
