  1. Advantages: Cheap, and efficient

Disadvantages: Bush cant say "Nuclear", Clean, if you live in the old USSR, it might asplode...

I say we build a couple thousand nuclear plants once Bush is out.

  2. I don't buy the whole global warming scam.  But:

Advantages to nuclear energy:  Clean, hopefully cheap and efficient.  Nearly unlimited source.

Disadvantages: Superstitions that have developed over the years and only in the United States.  Stop burying nuclear waste when it can be recycled and put back into the system.  Other countries do it, why can't "the greatest country in the world" do it?  Never mind wasting money on building deep pit for spent fuel rods, use them again.

  3. Nuclear power will certainly reduce local pollution levels as compared to thermal power . But globally nobody knows. There is neither a standard scientific method which is mutually and globally accepted nor any global authority to decide whether any particular effect on a particular location is caused by global warming and not by any other factor.

But nuclear power requires stringent safety standards and nuclear fuel is more scarce.

  4. Yes. It is a cleaner source of power that has zero emissions. Unfortunately, I don't subscribe to the global warming / climate change bandwagon.

The advantages of nuclear power is that it is cheap, infinite, and clean. The disadvantages are that the regulations in place cause it to become more expensive than coal, the waste is a real issue, and in the event of a meltdown or plant explosion, you've got a mess.

Even with the disadvantages, I would encourage the use of more nuclear power.

  5. We have the capabilities of build the safest, and most efficient nuclear plants in the world.  I say lets move forward and utilize our technology, or whats the point of having it.

Advantage- high tech way to provide energy, no emissions and by building them now with stricter codes the new plants will much safer then older versions.

Disadvantage - storage of waste material, and potential for hazardous material to be mishandled.  Also the idea that it is that it will cure all our power needs.  It is only a part of the solution not the solution.
