Question:

Short visit to Kerala.?

I want to go to Kerala during a trip to India this year, but only want to spend around 4-5 days there. I am thinking of staying in Cochin. Would this be a good place to try and experience Kerala, without travelling too far? One of the things I would like to do is relax on the beach, and see the backwaters by boat. Can anyone recommend any thing else there too?

  1. Hi There,

We suggest you the following travel plan

    Day -1  Cochin,

Day 2- Cochin to Kumarakom ( The Backwater Region)

Day 3 - Kumarakom to Alleppy (Overnight in House Boat)

Day 4- Alleppey to Varkala (beach)

    Day 5- Varkala-Cochin (Departure)

Other than the above mentioned places optionally you can proceed to Munnar (The Hill station) and Thekkadey(Periyar wildlife Sanctuary)also.

Please let us know your travel plan along with the date of travel and other details to southerntoursindia@gmail.com

We can definitely give you a better deal that no one can match with the rate and service.

    Cheers,

  2. Popular attractions in the state include the beaches at Kovalam, Cherai and Varkala; the hill stations of Munnar, Nelliampathi, Ponmudi and Wayanad; and national parks and wildlife sanctuaries at Periyar and Eravikulam National Park.

The "backwaters" region, which comprises an extensive network of interlocking rivers, lakes, and canals that centre on Alleppey, Kumarakom, and Punnamada (where the annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race is held in August), also see heavy tourist traffic.

Heritage sites, such as the Padmanabhapuram Palace and the Mattancherry Palace, are also visited. Cities such as Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram are popular centres for their shopping and traditional theatrical performances. During early summer, the Thrissur Pooram is conducted, attracting foreign tourists who are largely drawn by the festival's elephants and celebrants.
