YES! I am from Argentina, and I fell in love with cricket watching the Ashes 05 in Scotland. I do not think that cricket will find global acceptance hard to gain, but it is not marketed properly. An Olympic spot could buy loads of credibility with America, China, etc. So YES for Olympics.

Noooo...already Chinese Cricket coaching started 3 years back, their goal is to prepare 1,50,000 cricket players in the country by 2020...I don't know what happened to these people, going crazy behind every thing...only things left untouched by them are Antarctica and Space...

No way! It is the game of the english colonial days, played by gentlemen and peers of the realm.Now it is played by not so gentle men and fixed by uncommon fixers.It is like including kabbadi in Asian games, to favor a few nations from the sub continent, who are no good in the universally played games.If we are so desperate for a gold medal, let us start by providing world class amenities, exposure, and sponsorship to our boxers, wrestlers, archers, shooters etc who can bring us medals. Cricket has lots of money and does not need olympic games tag.Frankly, this game has killed the sports potential of the country.

Not particularly.

Some people think it should be,as it would introduce the game to a global audience. I beg to differ. There are 38 events in the current Olympics in Beijing. I have only watched the gymnastics, cycling, swimming, rowing and have been force fed the athletics. I have no interest in Taekwondo, boxing, synchronised swimming, any of the martial arts events, tennis, badminton, basketball or volleyball. So I don't watch them.

So cricket won't win a new fan base by being in the Olympics, as only those interested in it will watch.

And cricket doesn't need to be in the Olympics, it is a big enough event in its own right. The same is true of football and tennis, two events that should never have been given Olympic status.

Winning an Olympic gold medal should be the pinnacle of ambition in your sport. That would not be the ultimate aim for a cricketer.

Two weeks ago I said yes, and under the idea that I think that there should be tons more sports in the Olympics, I still say yes.  However, on the current basis of a streamlined Olympics, I say no.  The main reason is the participation factor.  While the sport is, in a distance sense, participated world over, the fact is that only 10 countries are allowed to play the sport at the top level.  That isn't 10 countries choose to participate, that is allowed to participate.  Based on this, I have to say no.
