  1. ive also got dish. they have great customer service and a very user friendly and nice interface in their menus.  my dish rarely looses signal.  it only looses it in a harsh storm or snowy weather.  it still works if its a little cloudy but not when there are a ton of thick clouds like in a storm. but then again, i live in an area of milder weather (nj).

  2. the thing with dish network and directv, when it rains or the the wind blows really hard the satelitte goes out. thats the only disadvantage. just imagine watching your favorite game and it starts to rain...no more tv

  3. I have been a Dishnetwork customer for over 5 years and I have only lost my signal once and only on one of the 3 satellites my dish's are aimed at.(replaced the video switch)Very good customer service, prices have held very well (compared to Comcast) and they have more HD channels than I am able to keep up with.  They just added another 20 HD channels and 2 more tomorrow. The ViP series HD receivers are MPeg4. I have the ViP622 DVR and an external 750gb Hard drive for saving programs. All in all a lot of good and very little if any bad.

  4. Whoever is getting bad reception during weather troubles got a bad install. I have DirecTV. Both DirecTV and Dish have the same amount of HD channels for the moment since Dish added the new channels but DirecTVs capacity for HD is much greater. The 5LNB Dish DirecTV uses will eventually get you 200+ HD channels. They already have the Satellites for 150 HD Channels launched and are just waiting for the content. I think anybody getting Dish now will have to change equipment. I also hate the 2 room DVR design that limits quality. The only advantage is for Dish installation crews and it costs Dish less in equipment. On top of that the introductory offer of 3 free months is misleading. You get a $39.99 credit in the 1st month, the 10th month and the 19th month. :(   Good luck finding a $39.99 plan you actually want anyway. DirecTV has $18 of a month for 1 year so of the bat you save more($39.99x3=119.97, $18x12= $204) Plus DirecTV has Free HBO, Starz and Showtime for 3 months. DirecTV also doesn't charge for locals and only $10 for HD access instead of $20 extra for Dish HD Channels.

    Oh yeah if you get the HD DVR and connect it to your network you get a whole lot of On-Demand stuff for free.

    Dish= nice try but FAIL.

    DirecTV Pwns all.

  5. i do really prefer dish network over like, cable.  but like somebody else said, weather does mess it up.  id suggest if you live somewhere with harsh weather, especially snow, not to do it, or to maybe see if you can have your dish somewhere lower where you can clear it off more easily.  but i mean, if its just cloudy and gross it wont get a signal anyway. it has good prices and channels but it has that one drawback.
