Question:

Should I pick a cheap college?

I suck at making decisions, and I am faced with a very big one. I just found out that PSU will accept me as a provisional student. (Meaning I’m an adult learner who hadn't gone to college in more than four years so they will put me on trial to see how well I do.) This is amazing, their program is really good. However, I have some concerns. I have already enrolled in another school (PCT) for the fall. So if I want PSU’s deal, I have to cancel at PCT (I was planning on transferring soon). And if I do go someplace else before PSU, I have to wait two years and get my general classes out of the way before PSU is even possible (didnt want to wait that long). To further complicate matters: PSU is roughly $7K a semester. The other school is $4K. I am 29 and have been on my own, so money is a factor. But I don’t know if it should be. I have like 3 days to figure out what I’m doing. HELP! I can provide more info if needed.

  1. I would investigate financial aid before making any decisions.  Your monetary situation sounds like you could get a hefty amount of help from the government.

Do you plan on staying for four years?  If so, it may be wiser for you financially if you wait the two, get AWESOME grades, and then transfer with scholarhips.

Have you filled out your fasfa yet?  if not, i wouldn't make a move until you know just what is offered to you.

What is PSU and what is PCT?
