Should I quit Cheerleading?

So at first, I thought being on Cheer was really cool. When I told my dad about it, he hestitate and didn't let me join. I was devastated, but at the end, he let me join because I wrote a 2 page letter to him.

Cheerleading was pretty fun at first when we started learning the cheers. I was really happy with the sport because I got pretty close to the girls on the team.

However, summer practice started, and we started stunting (lifting girls up), and I'm struggling so much with it. My wrists hurt so much and I can barely move everyday. My friends on the squad (all returning members, since I'm a sophomore) and I aren't that close anymore. Well, we still talk, but they seem to talk more among themselves because they've been together for a whole year already.

On top of that, I have the responsibilities of being in student council (asb), the speech and debate team, and a club officer next year. I might be too busy.

But I don't want to regret quitting. What should I do?

  1. You have to ask yourself 1 question,

Is this something that if you quit you think you'll not care or would you care? To decide this make a chart good things about it and bad things about cheerleading. Give it 3 more weeks and see how things go, I really hope I helped. Good Luck! I bet you wont regret your decision.

  2. Well I just started summer pratices for high school cheerleading. I admit it is hard. But before you quit try making new friends on the cheerleading squad. That's what I did becuase I wanted to talk to someone as I didn't know anyone before. Also you will get used to the pain and the soreness. Just remember by the time school starts you will probably be more fit and stronger.

If you are really busy with other school things then I say try to do it for the first couple weeks or months. If you become way too busy just decide which one you think you couldn't live without.

    Good Luck.

  3. Hey! Okay I am a first time cheerleader and I am a freshman.

I know that it hurts your wrists but you can do wrist exercises to help them grow strong!! Here is a GREAT excerise you can try!

    Door opener

    • Start your forearm at the position resting on the table and palm down.

    • Keep your little finger on the table.

    • Now, turn your hand so that your palm faces up.

    • You can use your other hand to help.

    • Last grip your forearm but not wrist or hand.

    • Hold the position for 2 minutes.

    • Slowly came back to the starting position and relax.

    • Retry the process for at least 4-5 times.

Girl, it's not worth quitting i don't think. But do what makes YOU happy! Oh and about the friends thing try inviting them over more and more and go to the movies with them!! Hope this helps and good luck!!!
