Should I quit my job now??

My husband and I just sat down and figured out our finances for the year. It turns out that after all of our day care expenses (monthly bill plus gas and food), I bring home under $5000 a year. I have a very rewarding job and love my boss and co-workers, but also want to spend more time with my children. My husband makes enough to pay all of our bills and then some we would just have to stick to a budget more than we do now. Is it worth it to stay at my job, or should I go home with my kids?

Would it be possible to transition to part time work and see how that feels? Better still can you work from home? Just be sure staying at home full time is what YOU want....you don't want to be bitter down the line. The kids won't always be home once they start school...unless you are considering home schooling. Look at how your decision will play out as your kids age.

I SAY FIND A SMALLER JOB THAT YOU CA DO WHENEVER YOU LIKE BECAUSE AS A STAY AT HOME MOM YOU SHE STILL HAVE A SMALL SOURCE OF INCOME OR SOMETHING TO PUT IN A SAVINGS ACCOUNT.

If you can manage on your husbands' income alone, then give your 2 weeks notice, but tell them  why.  If it doesn't work out or it's driving you crazy being home, perhaps you can ask for your old job back.

I would stay home with the kids. In my opinion raising children is one of the most rewarding and respectable jobs of all.

You are the only person that can truly answer that question, it all depends on where you want to be in life.  Some people are very family oriented so staying home would be the answer, others are very career oriented and would go crazy not being in the work environment.  Most of us are somewhere in the middle and struggle with these questions.  

Based on your question and the way it was phrased, it sounds like you want to stay home, but are looking for support from the Yahoo community.  Based on that, I would recommend leaving your time and staying home, you can always go back to work later if you decide to.  

One thing I would recommend is keeping in touch with your business life though.  that may be lunches with the old crowd, volunteering, or something else.  The contact is important though as it will help significantly if/when you decide to go back to working outside the house.

The decision is obviously up to you and your husband, but if you're working full time you are working for less than $2.50 an hour, maybe a lot less.
