I'm leaving for a short-ish visit with relatives in 5 days (we're flying there). Should I start packing now, or am I jumping the gun a bit?

  1. Yes you better start packing now to avoid the rush and the tendency that you will forget something. Put all travel documents in one place so you will not forget it.

  2. Ok, I pack WAY in advance because if I am flying somewhere then I have usually bought nice things to take to wear, or I am taking different things then what I wear everyday.  I start packing early because I want time to make sure everything is ironed, and put away safe, everything I need like underwear and socks has time to come through the laundry, and I have time to remember anything I might have forgotten.

If it were me, I would have been packed already except for the last minute things I need daily.  You have enough to do getting out the door with everything turned off and locked up, you don't need to be worn out from being up late getting things together when you arrive or arrive with everything a mess or things forgotten.

If you have the space to put a suitcase and pack in a more leisurely fashion and you think you would like to, then go for it.  It is all about YOU.  Your schedule, your habits, your comfort.  I

    Have a great trip.

  3. I wouldn't start packing until the day before you are going to leave. If it's a short visit then one day to pack is good enough. Just make sure you remember all the stuff you need like a tooth brush.

  4. If you know for sure that you have everything that you need, pack in a couple of days.

If you aren't sure whether you have everything, pack most of it except for the things you need between now and then, and things you still need to get and then you can do the rest the day before.

The problem with packing on the day or the night before is that if you don't have something you need, you will not be able to get it!

I would suggest that you start packing probably tomorrow, then you still have time to get things you need to buy or things you may have forgotton about!

  5. i would wait 2 more days.

  6. For my trips I may at this point begin laying out an outift that I plan on taking as I think of it.  But its usually 2 days before I get serious and then the very last night I go over what shirts I have for what skirt, what shirt to go with pants, etc.

And I go for 3 weeks overseas, so you should be fine.  I pack one of the large suitcases, a smaller one, then my backpack.

As for the backpack, I may begin putting odds & in's in that to be sure I don't forget something, but since you are going to visit relatives it won't be too bad.
