Question:

Should I try to walk on?

I currently play Division 3 college lacrosse, I know I am better at football but the only reason I haven't already tried to play football is because i feel i am too small. I wondering if its too late to try to walk on my junior year of college(currently a sophomore but football just started) or should i stick with lacrosse?

I'm 5'10 weigh 180 but i have no problem putting on weight(recently lost 15 ibs)

my bench is 310(1 rep max)

squat 550

dead lift 600

incline 275

40- 4.75

In high school I played linebacker and led my team in tackles sacks and forced fumbles so i know i have the ability but will size be that much of a factor?and if so what position should I go out for safety?

  2. my husband says it's better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all. that or cornerback.can you runn fast..lol you can lettering in more than one sport.i say go with your heart if it makes you happy.

You're right you are too small but D-III schools are usually not picky because they don't have the huge talent pools to draw from and they don't have to worry about being embarassed because let's face it, who's watching.  Not to sound mean about it but I'm just trying to lay it out for you that you probably stand a good chance to make the squad, but you gotta train all year round to get in shape like you were already on the team.  You can't just expect summer training to get you there.

  4. It's probably to late to try to walk on this year, but next year you definitely should. You don't want to live your life saying what if. You don't want to be down the road 10 years from now and be saying to yourself, "I wished I had tried to walk-on to play football." What's the worst they can say, No, then at least you tried. So Do It!
