Should I use Lime Wire?!?

Okay, so I know its illegal. Dont argue me on that, I know it is.

But I'm sick of itunes not having the music I want,

and I dont want to go out and buy a CD for one song.

Youtube is only good for when you're at the computer.

I want to be able to listen to these songs on my ipod.

So, I'm asking, would you or would you not use lime wire?

I mean, a lot of people use it, and it just seems to be the easiest solution to my problem. I dont know what to do. I dont know anyone else who pays for their music, so I know its not that dangerous. But it'll crush my conscience. I'm willing to download it though, I just want to know if any of you have had problems with lime wire, or if it screws with your itunes? Bc. I've heard you can use itunes with lime wire, but I dont know if it'll mess with my current library?

Thankyou,

x Caroline

  1. Limewire is OK but you must use it with a good antivirus suite

there is also Frostwire which is the same but my Grandson reckons is better

whatever you do do NOT download files under 1.5mb most contain nasties

I use Zonealarm security suite which always stops the nasties even if in bigger file

Free trial download for 15 days

  2. LimeWire and iTunes don't affect each other. I used to use LimeWire to download music but it's contaminated with a lot of viruses and junk, so now I download torrents.

  3. Yes you should use limewire, because it does not have viruses and does not mess up your pc.

When people say, that limewire gave them lots of viruses, it is not limewire that did this, but downloading the wrong files do.

P2P programs can be dangerous, when you download these wrong files.

There are a lot of fake files, pretending to be songs or movies.

    They are however viruses.

When you do a search for music, you always see a lot of those small files, too small to be a song or movie. These files are very likely the fake files you should avoid.

You should start downloading files larger than 2500/3000kb

NOthing is completley safe, therefore make sure your anti virus is up to date. Just in case.

  4. Mostly everybody in my school uses LimeWire to download music, even teachers! I haven't heard that it screws with your iTunes, so I recommend you to use LimeWire...

  5. First of all iTunes and LimeWire don't get affected by each other.

Second, I've stopped using LimeWire because most of the results you get are virii/spyware/etc, and they look like the real deal too.

    Try torrents.

  6. Limewire has a lot of viruses, and there are lots of other P2P file share site available.

It would have no effect on your current library, because it will download to a different folder, that is unless you scan your computer for music files, then they would mingle together in a play list.

All these people that answer it is illegal, it may be where they are from, but that does not mean it is for everyone.

Here in Canada, it is 100% legal to download music for your own personal use.

As soon as this question is ask, there are those people that just have to get on there and complain about it being illegal, maybe they should find out where the asker is from first. I assume it is illegal in the USA, from all the comments that always pop up on here, but everyone that uses limewire and Yahoo Messenger does not live in the USA.

Here are some sites, based on personal experience:

    Limewire - many viruses

Ares - less viruses less files - I find to be a good site.

    uTorrent - not familar with

edonkey - used but for a short time only

Bear Share - have used but no longer, seemed slow
