Should i drop US History AP?

I signed up for AP calculus BC, AP US History, AP computer science, Chemistry H, English 3H, and a sport for my junior year.

I still have a chance to drop a class before school start, i am saying this because i just HATE history so much, but my parents really want me to take it. I have trouble just concentrating, my mind goes somewhere else when i try to do my summer homework. I had to struggle to barely get a A- second semester and B in World History honors... It is just honors!!!!! and i bunch of people find it easy. Should i drop it??

However, i am looking forward to calculus BC since i love math!! i was top or second place in the class the whole entire year in pre-calc honors, and algebra 2h in 9th grade.

I took bio AP, got a 4 >.< and 730 on the SAT II.

I got straight As in 9th grade, and 2 B in first semester 10th grade, and straight A's second semester.

I want major in engineering in college.

I want to know if dropping US AP would affect my chance getting into a UC college.

I am planning on taking AP lit, AP physics, AP stats, US govt (ap if i take us ap ) and a sport.

I haven't yet taken SAT I

Thanks for your opinion!!!

  1. Getting a B in AP US History will look better to a college admissions officer than an A in Honors US History. Plus the AP Exam is easy as h**l. Just trying shows that you are willing to work hard (a necessity in an engineering program) but taking honors while other students from your high school are taking AP, will adversely affect your chances of getting into the University of your choice. At my University, we compare students from the same high school against each other as a way of teasing out the 'hard-worker-ness' of each.

The difference between AP History and Honors history is that AP focuses on themes ... you can always guess at what the right answer probably is (for the multiple choice), as long as you learn what kinds of things were going on at the time. In Honors, facts are, well, facts.

My Junior year I did AP US History, AP Calc AB, AP Bio, AP US govt and AP Macroeconomics, getting a 4, 5, 5, 4, 4, respectively. As I see it, you're capable of not failing at life, so there really is no downside.

  2. US History AP is a lot of memorization. You would do fine in it, as I can tell you are quite smart. It's up to you, if I were you I'd keep it AP. Goodluck
