Hi, i wear contact lenses and can finally afford to get laser eye treatment. I still dont know if i should take the risk, i have read up lots about it but would like honest answer. My eye sight is very poor so constantly have to wear contacts. Would just like to know of people think its a good idea and if anyone has got it done? I live in Ireland by the way.

  1. I wear contacts all the time, and they drive me mad, but I wouldn't risk the surgery.  I was thinking about it before, and what put me off was a few of my friends who are opticians told me that none of the surgeons in Ireland who carry out the laser eye treatment will actually get it done themselves.  This was about 4 years ago, so I'm not sure how true it is now, but it was enough to put me off completely.

  2. My dad got it done and he thinks it's the best thing he's ever done.  A lot of the patients who have it done love it.  I know a few people with mild side effects, like dry eyes every once in a while, or slightly poor night vision.  But I'd definitely do it if your vision is causing you a lot of distress.  Good luck!

  3. It might go wrong will laser eye treatment and after a period of time you would be blind or have a worse eye sight than what you had or it can go really well and your eyes will be fine i recomend to do it even though it is quite expensive

  4. Emily B is spot on.

I've had it done (in England) at 40 and I've had a year now of vision that's better than I can ever remember - worn glasses for 20 years.

I'd recommend you go to a reputable firm, I used Optical Express and they were superb. They give you good advice from the start and there's no pressure to follow through with the treatment.

Good luck if you go for it. I'm sure you won't regret it.

  5. My mother had it done about 6 months ago and her vision is now perfect. She can't remember when it was as good as it is now, since her vision was blurred since she was 14 (24 years ago.) She is very happy. And I don't think there is a large chance of blindness, but there is a relatively average chance of side effects. If I were you, (which I am not ;)) I would get it done.

  6. I wouldn't do it.This week there were many reports of people whose vision got worse.
