Should i play piano or guitarr?

Question

so ive decided i wanna pick up an instrument, and i cant decide whether i should take guitar lessons or piano lessons?

any opinions?

As one guy as already said, piano does get progressively harder... it is definitely harder than guitar. Both are nice instruments, but I would go with piano. It is amazing what you can do with it :] But really... choose whichever you like best. Good luck.

The choice is not easy.  There are many pluses to both and a few negatives to.

Base your choice on what you like to hear the most.  If you enjoy hearing the guitar more go with it. If the piano go with it. Don't pick the instrument because some one says it is easy to play or that it is cool. Play the instrument you love.  If it takes you a few weeks listening to both on recordings or Youtube, fine.

both instruments are great.

What ever you decide, Get those lessons.

Guitar is amazing fun to play, by far my favorite instrument ever.  However, I got a lot of help from learning piano.  It's a good instrument if you're just starting to get into playing music.

I hope my answer isnt too biased, considering i play guitar, but here goes:

Piano takes alot of talent to play, and ive HEARD that learning how to play piano gets progressively harder as you age, much like learning another language.  This doesnt necessarily exist with guitar\

Having said that, i have a number of reasons why you should pick up guitar instead:

1)  Most of the songs out there are played on guitar, flat out.  Name 3 bands you like, and I'll bet that AT LEAST 2 of them are primarily guitar based bands.  And thats how you want to learn how to play an instrument, you emulate your favorite bands and learn what they have made, dont start on "twinkle twinkle little star" or "the star spangled banner"  you'll get bored

2) Pianos/Keyboards are big,  you have to think about space constraints

3)  Girls dig guys that play guitar.  And if youre a girl, its more of an uncommon thing, but very attractive to other guitar players

4) the most important reason.  Personally, I think there is nothing better than being at a party drinking beers, smoking cigarettes, and singing songs while someone plays the guitar.

By far a piano. You can play so many styles of music. I'm always more impressed when I hear someone play the piano well. The other day at work in the lobby an employee played some phenomenal music and I couldn't believe what a crowd he attracted. Most did not know he could play. Would he do the same with a guitar? Doubt it!

I play both, but personal preference I'd pick guitar only because I love electric, and I'm more of a rocker piano's more classy, but it can be rocker too. Picture yourself with them, and imagine how you'd look!
