  1. I am on my school's tennis team. I absolutely love tennis it is very fun and provides alot of excercise. You get this huge rush when you see the ball coming toward you. It's awesome! It can be hard but you get the hang of it pretty fast. The hardest thing is probably timing your swing. Figuring out exactly what time to swing the raquet before the ball actually comes. But you can even pick that up quickly. I really think you should try tennis. It is very fun!

  2. if you want to play, then play what do you have to lose?

  3. The basic concept (hitting the ball with the raquet) is not hard. Perfecting the skill to do it correctly every time, is. Check with community centers, some of them offer tennis lessons and that would be a good chance for you to try tennis and see if you like it. If you have the option of taking tennis for gym class, do it. That's how I got turned on to tennis, we had it for gym class. It was also the only time I got a decent grade in gym class!

It's not difficult to learn a few concepts to play recreationally. And a coach or member of your high school tennis team can teach you the scoring.

Give it a try. You might like it and develop a lifelong hobby that's also good exercise.

  4. I started at 28, and its been a blast.  Taking a tennis class/lessons would be the best way to start.  If your school has a tennis team, I would see if the coach would let you practice with the team.  The sport is a lot harder than it looks, but we all have to start somewhere.  Hit against a wall, when you don't have someone to hit with.  See if your parents can "buy" you tennis lessons for special occasions like Christmas or your birthday.  Good luck and have fun!

  5. Tennis can be hard.. it takes a lot of practice. But it is an amazing sport. Very fun and exercising! You should definitly give it a try.

  6. I went to play yesterday and found that my town park charges $15/hr to play.  s***w that I'll sit home and get fat before I'll go broke using courts that need little maintenance.  I should add the courts were empty and almost always are (about 8 courts).

Regardless, for you, your highschool probably has courts so by all means give a shot A GOOD SHOT and if you find to hard or unenjoyable then move to something else.  My brother met his wife practicing his tennis serve. So hey get out there and have fun.

  7. Yeah. It'd be good for you. Like he said, the basic concept of hitting the ball isn't hard. You should just practice a lot and you'll get good. Plus, if you start now, you will have a lifelong sport under your belt. Anyone can play tennis!
