  1. No, only at christmas.

  2. usually just around christmas time

  3. No. Once a year give him some food gifts.

  4. I usually do it if he's getting something heavy inside my apt. like a tv or something.. otherwise I just sign and close the door.

  5. Why?

he would still do his job even if you did'nt live there.

  6. no need

  7. ummm....if you want to...??

  8. nah, but maybe he'd appreciate a bottled water! Never thought about that before.

  9. No, we do not tip the mail man! Or the UPS man or any one else who brings mail or packages. Not even Federal Express!

  10. Mail carriers do not work for tips. The reason we tip servers at restaurants is because they work for less than minimum wage (it's also "To Insure Proper Service"). There is no reason as to why you should tip your mailman.

  11. We had the best mail man ever when I was a kid, he knew the names of all the kids on our block. My mom always gave him a bottle of his favourite alcohol at Christmas, whiskey maybe.

But nowadays, you don't get to know your postal worker and you don't have the same kind of relationship. Unless I get to know the person enough to know something they would like, like their favourite drink, then I don't bother.

  12. They get paid already.

I wouldn't besides, he probably wouldn't except it.

  13. No.don't do it..it hurts their pride. They are not doing voluntary work. They are doing their job.

  14. you don't hve unless u want to, i think u should tip him 5 bucks

  15. Well, It would be extremely kind and thoughtful to tip him. I don't think mailmen make a lot of money, maybe barely enough. He'd appreciate it. Tip him about 3 to 10 dollars maybe. The people that are saying no obviously aren't very thoughtful. Yeah he's doing his job, but he works extremely hard and in the heat too! He probably gets lots of paper cuts and has sometimes hard times finding houses. You don't know what hard work he goes through. I don't understand why people are saying to never, ever tip the mailman. I truely think it's a great, smart, thoughtful, kind, and friendly thing to do. Just because back then everything was all good- Not much kidnappers, not many theives, and everyone knew everybody and nowadays people don't know everyone, it doesn't mean you can't be nice and tip a hard-working mailman. Come on, he could open up envelopes and stealing checks, but he doesn't, right?

  16. i have NEVER in my life heard of that...

  17. well i don't  um but i would tip him mabe around 10doallars or so.

  18. Only at Christmas.

  19. no, they don't work for tips, they work for a living.

  20. You never have to tip the mailman. It's optional to slip a few bucks in a card around Christmas.

  21. no. they dont work for tips

  22. um.... no

  23. no but i get mine like a small gift for christmas

  24. Generally, no.  However, if you have a regular mailperson, especially if you see him fairly often and possibly even know his name, then it is polite in the US to "tip" something at Christmastime.  General rule of thumb for Christmas tipping: if you use a service regularly and are familiar and comfortable with the person providing the service, then you should tip something at Christmas. For example, a regular maid who cleans your house every week would likely qualify, where a maid service which sends someone different every week wouldn't.

  25. I dont think so because thats what they do but you can give them a cuz of juice on a hot sunny day.

  26. NO!!!

Maybe offer a cold drink on a hot day or hot drink on a cold day.  But never a tip.

  27. No
