Should my Grand-children cover up?

Question

I have 8 Grand-children who love running around naked in their garden.

As soon as the sun comes out, they strip off, and head for the paddling pool. They are aged between 8, and 2 years.

When my 3 were little, they too loved being naked, and no-one seemed to bother 25 years ago, but in this day and age, with so many paedophiles coming out of the woodwork, is it wrong to allow the children so much freedom, or should my daughter stop letting them roam around naked? Although I personally love to see them enjoying their freedom, and innocence, I sometimes wonder who might be watching them, and worry a little.

My Daughter has a huge cottage garden, which is relatively private, but we live in a pretty Cornish village, and have lots of holidaymakers, and day-trippers passing the garden on the way to the woods, and at some parts of the garden, it's possible to see the children playing in the nude, which concerns me, but my daughter is not so concerned. Should she be???

I do not know if this will make you feel better or not but there are just as many pedophiles today as there was generations ago...........in fact, more of these horrible people are locked up today and children are made more aware today.........so, that should not concern you as much as it does. As far as letting them run "free", to each his own.

If your daughter and son think that its ok and your house is well protected it shouldn't be much of a problem but you should try to stop it for the 8 year olds soon.

becuase people can see them i think that you should put at least shorts on all the kids who are in school and if the 8 year old is a girl and starting to develop then her as well ( i was by that age). My daughter is 19 months old and loves playing in her little pool naked, We don't have a fence so around 3-4 we will put putting clothes on her cute little button. There is nothing wrong with letting little kids run around naked but sadly yea there is a lot of pervs out there and you just want the kids safe from them.

you know what, I reckon kids should be allowed to be kids and if running naked is what they want to do, I think go for it.  They are only little enough to do so for such a short time...

Also, just for information's sake........ there were AS MANY paedophiles around 25 years ago as there are now (relative to the numbers of people around, obviously we have a bigger population generally today).  

we didn't HEAR about that sort of thing then because the media wasn't what it is now and we didn't have access to the information.  It doesn't mean they weren't about!!!

I'm with your daughter, I wouldn't be concerned either.

the people who walk past the garden aren't the ones to worry about generally, children are generally abused (if it is going to happen at all) by the people closest to them, not by strangers.  sad but true.
