Should students wear uniforms?

Yes if they are comfortable and practical and affordable. I think girls wearing skirts is a ridiculous and old fashioned idea which restricts movement - the uniform should be functional and unisex. Uniform is helpful to identify a group of people and create a sense of belonging it also is good for parents as school uniforms are for school and so there are no morning arguments or worries about what children are going to wear and how fashionable or acceptable their choice of clothing is going to be it is just routine and accepted that the clothing for school is set for all and that eleviates pressure to conform to a more expensive and changeable and emotionally charged youth unofficial fashion uniform.

i would say no because students its sorta like taking away free speech in a way. but sometimes i would recomend it like when girls try to dress like they want to be a w***e or somthing

I think uniforms are great.  It makes it much easier to get the kids dressed in the morning when they know exactly what they HAVE to wear.  It eliminates all the arguments of what pants to wear, which shoes match, etc...

no, clothing is a way to express yourselves but you should follow the school rules consulting dress codes. I would only say yes if people dressed really inappropriatly and sometimes its better because its less money and you dont have to worry about what to wear also it may bring people closer together by not judging them by what they wear.

Unless it is a military academy, absolutely not.

We have enough fascism in the world as it is.  There have been a lot of excuses for using school uniforms.  What it gets down to is that "parents" are not raising their children any more.  The modern corporate world that has destroyed the small community has rendered us to be irresponsible corporate communists, and this has impacted our society by ruining the family social network, ended neighborhood relationships between families, and made Democracy be undesireable.

The excuse that uniforms modify student behavior and identify them as a social entity is pure social tyranny.  Although the Hitler Youth program was the extreme, it is no less a negative influence against social responsibility than are school uniforms in a Democratic society.

The islamic practice of women wearing burkhas, the jewish practice of orthodox beards and hats on men, even the punk displays of tattoos with piercings and coats with patches and doo-dads are all forms of social uniforms, no different than Catholic school uniforms.  It is a mental establishment that people are different from the "outside" social orders in a class status of elitism.  I do not want to see that be propagated in our country or in any other country.

We need to teach students humanism, Democracy, social and self-responsibility, and uniforms do the exact opposite.  It makes little (sometimes big) cults out of segregated social orders.

Yes, therefor it teaches students discipline - when having a certain dress code and hair styles they should adhere to. Further more, some parents can't afford the designer T's and fashionable accessories which other richer parents may afford.

Assuming that we are talking about school students.

Yes, because it makes the students equal, say if students were out of uniform some would have rich parents and some would have poor parents therefore there would be different classes. Some students would be picked on because of the clothing they wear.

Also when students are in uniform it means that they are at school and not at the shopping center. Its kinda like the military. The students are the **** kickers and the teachers are the officers so they show respect to the teachers.
