  1. Absolutely!!! And not just 10 percent. Try 15-20% In most states servers make 2.13 an hour. After taxes on your check it is next to nothing. (well even without taxes 2 bucks an hour is next to nothing). Tips are how servers make their paychecks. It's not an easy job either. At any given time a server normally has at least 3 tables, or more. Between apps, drinks, refills, food, dessert, chit chatting to make sure you enjoy your experience, it is alot of running around and pretty hectic. But they get it done, and in the event of a mistake made if your not rude the server will be more than happy to get it taken care of. (i.e. free food and a new plate) Servers remember crappy customers and trust me if you are one expect the service you recieve in return to be about the same. Now there is an exception to this.... sometimes you will get LOUSY service when you have done nothing wrong, just a bad server... when this happens tip but only change. If you stiff someone they will just think your a jackass, but if you leave a very little tip it gets the point across that they just weren't that good.

  2. You should always tip your hair stylist, food server, etc.  Tips mean To Insure Proper Service.  Every person who gets tips doesn't get paid a lot on their paycheck because they rely on tips as an income.  It would be like you working at your job and only getting paid half of what you're supposed to and not getting the rest.  That's what it's like when you don't get tipped.  If you can't afford a tip, don't go out to eat or get your haircut.  It's that simple.

  3. If you are referring to a server absolutely!!!  Most servers work for tips, they only make $2.13 an hour in some places.  15% is considered the minumum for good service.

  4. You should tip all those that serve you.

  5. You should tip the postal service mail carrier because of union issues. Also, we are entitled to many things so give them to us now!

  6. always tip your fellow employees

  7. Depends on the country.  For restaurants in the U.S. I tip 20% for good food and service, 15% if I'm short on money or the service was just okay, and nothing at all if I'm mad about the service or food.  In some countries though, the servers don't rely on tips.  They simply earn their hourly wage or salary.

If you are asking a deeper question about whether we should have employees who depend on tips, then I would say no.  A fair wage is a fair wage.  For one, I hate it when people are fake towards me b/c they want my money.  Two, if say there is a bad server at a restaurant, any good employer will fix their problem or fire the server.  You don't need the lure of tips to get good service.  It really only causes more friction, especially with all the people who are cheap or who simply don't know how or when to tip.

  8. Think about it.. If you were a server only getting $3 an hour and were relying on people's tips. WOULD YOU WANT A CUSTOMER TO TIP YOU OUT?

It's common knowledge to always tip a server in a restaurant. The norm is at least 20% ..not 15%. Times have changed.

Server's paychecks are only about $100.. if that.

So next time, put yourself in their position. Or just don't go out to eat if you don't tip.

  9. yeah, that is how they make their money.  waiters and waitresses make like $3 something an hour and will usually have to split the tips with the bus boy

  10. yes , but only if their good and when your bad employees see the good employees being tipped your bad ones will work harder so they'll get tipped!!!
