  1. I worked in a resturant all my life and the coffee pots are sparkling.heres the secret! Put about 2 handfuls of ice cubes in the pot and then put a half cup of salt in the pot and just enough water to move the ice and hold the pot with both hands on the top and bottom and justspin it in circles and then rinse with clean water and you will have a sparkling pot!!!!Good luck!!!!

  2. I rinse mine daily and dry and then deep clean with baking soda as needed.

  3. I wouldn't wash a metal pot;-{ let it build up a patina.

OK, you can rinse out the gross stuff occasionally.

But never, NEVER, use any kind of soap.

I put my glass coffee pot in the dish-washer every so often.

Once or twice a year, I run a bottle of vinegar through,

    to clean the lime/calcium out of the coffee maker;-}

followed by several pots of water, to rinse out the taste.

  4. The reason it is recommended not to wash a coffee pot is because: if you scratch the glass, the pot can break when the hot coffee drips in to it, or from the differential in temperature when sitting on the heating pad.

It is OK to wash a coffee pot using any of the methods mentioned by others (as well as just rinsing with water) as long as you do not use an abrasive cleanser, an abrasive sponge, the dishwasher or any other method that could scratch the glass.

If you do scratch the glass you should throw the pot away and get a new one.

  5. Mine pot goes in the dishwasher a few times a week.  Other times I just rinse it.

  6. If it's a glas pot from a coffee maker you'll have to clean it occasionally because coffee is oily  and leaves a nasty film on the glass after a while....rinsing was for those old coffeepots that used to come with dinnerware---but you still want to wash the outside of it clean....

  7. If it's glass you can wash it daily. I believe this pertained to the old metal perculators.

  8. If it's a Mr. Coffee pot then you can wash them out with a tbsp

of vinegar and a potful of water and letting it go through the

dispencer once or twice and you can wash the glass pot with

    hot soapy water.

  9. after a while, there will be residue from coffee even if you rinse it out

It's good to wash it in a mixture of water, baking soda and vinegar. After doing this rinse it out several times. You can also clean your coffee maker out by puting a mixture of vinegar and water through it. After using vinegar water, put clean water (even purified ie. culligan) through the coffee maker several times.

This can help keep your coffee tasting great.

  10. I WORKED IN A RESTAURANT FOR 18 YRS... WE ALWAYS USED ICE AND SALT TO CLEAN THE GLASS POTS.       JUST GIVE IT A SWIRL FOR A FEW MIN, AND RINSE OUT..NO SOAPY TASTE AND DOESNT SCRATCH THE GLASS,  ALSO THE VINEGAR AND WATER (1/2 AND 1/2)   RUN THROUGHT THE COFFEE  MAKER ITSELF IS THE BEST WAY TO KEEP IT TASTING FRESH AND CLEAN ,  AND REMOVES MINERAL DEPOSITS

  11. I have an automatic coffee pot that I wash when the spirit moves me which is not very often and can't tell the difference. I have heard from a man that came around to where I worked and he said to never wash a coffee pot as it changes the flavor. He would just scrub it out with a clean coffee filter and dry it with another one. No soap or cleaning agent was used.
