Question:

Shoulder bag problem?

I have recently purchased a "sling" or "messenger" bag, as I prefer this to my previous lofty rucksack. As I have to carry my pencil case, valuables and 5 subjects' worth of books and textbooks in my bag to school (walking about 2 miles to and from school) I was wondering whether shoulder bags could inflict pain on the shoulder?

For example, could you dislocate your shoulder if you continuously put the strap of your bag on your shoulder?

I have tried walking around with my shoulder bag, and only after 5 minutes it starts hurting me. Any solutions?

  1. You will get used 2 it i have used a shoulderr bag 4 3 years and im fine with it! =]

  2. My friend used a shoulder bag and ended up with a really sore shoulder. Not sure you'd dislocate your shoulder.

Her doctor advised rucksack as weight is distributed evenly. But if you're really keen to use Sling bag then you may get used to it.

  3. I think you should swap sides that you wear your shoulder bag on, because ti you keep wearing it on one side, your shoulder on that side may slump down. It won't slump down noticeably, but just subtly.

  4. A few years ago I read an article by callard Pinkney the lady who invented callanetics. She did so after her concern about the amount of injuries she had sustained after back packing an carrying a shoulder bag for years. And so she introduced these movements not unlike pilates to improve the posture of the spine.

I'm appalled that schools and colleges make no privsion for students or pupils to keep their books etc at their place of study instead of having to lug them everywhere they go and then take them home everynight..

  5. Wear the bag across your body, it distributes the weight better.
