Why not? I mean, since many sports in the US already has a professional league, why can't volleyball have one. Even it maybe hard to attract spectators, but by introducing some top volleyball players, I think it would help.

Take a look at Italy, their volleyball league is the top sport after football.

$$$$$$$, there are tonnes of pro volleyball leagues all over Europe.  Too bad U.S.A. is so lazy that two of the number one sports is turning out to be nascar and WWE.  No money to be made for pro volleyball.  Not indoor anyhow.  Too bad.  If pro soccer can't make it in North America, the number one sport in the world then I don't think volleyball has a great shot.

It already exists.  Ever hear of the AVP tour?  There was an indoor six team women's league that played two and a half seasons in the late 80s before the league folded

.  Major league volleyball simply would not survive in the US today.  Imagine it trying to compete with the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS, NASCAR, NCAA basketball (men's and women's), NCAA football, and poker.  One of the four major sports, hockey, can't even compete with the other leagues today.  There is no possibility that a major indoor volleyball league could exist.

In the USA there just wouldn't be enough interest for a professional indoor volleyball league. The sports calender is just too crowded so finding the necessary sponsorship or investors would be extremely doubtful. Look what happened with WUSA.

    Overseas is another story so go to fivb.org  for more info on international volleyball. Europe,Brazil, and Japan some of the places that have professional volleyball leagues.

     Beach Volleyball has the AVP.  FIVB has the Swatch World volleyball world tour that will include the world championships in July WCSN.COM covers this tour. Beach volleyball is what NBC promotes during the Olympics and this is where the sponsorship money goes. Just look at the endorsements May and Walsh received.
