  1. .

    1) Standard Hold:

Hold the steering wheel at either 9 and 3..... or 10 and 2.

Hold the wheel lightly but be ready to tighten the wheel if necessary.

Make charges in direction smoothly and gradually. Make small changes in direction by turning the s/wheel w/out altering your hand hold.

To make more positive turns, use the pull-push method.

    PULL-PUSH METHOD/shuffle:

With the pull-push method neither hand passes the 12 o'clock position.

Start with a pull down for better control.

Left turn: slide left hand up towards but not past 12 o'clock.

Pull down with the left hand and slide down with the right until near the bottom of the wheel.

Start pushing up with the right hand if more steering is req'd.

For Right turns follow the same procedure but but replace left with right etc.

The ADVANTAGE of pull-push is that it keeps both hands on the wheel and allows IMMEDIATE turn in any direction at any point during steering.

In certain circumstances, for example during SKIDDING or during VERY LOW SPEED or HIGH SPEED manoeuvres, it may be advantageous to use a different technique from pull-push.

    ROTATIONAL STEERING:

Most alterations of course (up to about 120 degrees of steering) can be made while turning the wheel using a light but FIXED HAND HOLD.

For more acute bends reposition your lower hand at 12 o'clock and continue smoothly pulling down on the wheel.

When you can see a bend is going to require more than 120 degrees of steering , place your leading hand (pull) at 12 before starting the turn.

Straighten up by using a similar series of movements but in the opposite direction. Although the self-centring action of the wheel assists the return, you must keep it under control.

  2. your hands are to be on the steering wheel 9 an 3 (New rule  People becuz at 10 an 2 if the air bag deploys it sends the drivers hands into there face) unless you about to turn or something then you do push an pull or over hand(thats the proper way)........... but sense i passed all my test an have a license i can drive how i wanna drive which means 1 hand at 12

  3. Keep it there while driving straight and while you are shuffling swap hands.

  4. you have better control of the steering wheel with hand over hand steering, over turning the wheel by shuffle steering.and the proper hand position is 10 & 2.
