Hi, I recently came acrossed a problem with a computer I was building. I had a lot of really old parts, and just to get back to basics, I decided to build a computer equal to those that came out several years back. I wanted to build a computer for simple Word processing and possibly Internet. I took an old “a micro” tower with a motherboard that used an old socket 7 processor. I put a 200 Mhz processor in as well as a 10 Gig Hard Drive. I also added two sticks of 128 RAM, a 230-Watt power supply, a 40x CD Drive, and a Floppy. Once I started it, it started to boot but on the boot screen I saw I had accidentally hooked up the Hard Drive as a slave. I then turned it off and moved the little pin over into the master position. Afterwards I turned the computer back on, but then, on the monitor screen, I got a little blue box that said “Please Check Signal Cable”. I checked and made sure it was plugged in and tried anything I could think of, from restarting to opening up the tower and investigating inside. Nothing worked. I’m sure the tower is probably fine; I only moved the little pin. I even added an 80 Gig with no OP system as a slave but I couldn’t get it going. Does anyone out there have any ideas or solutions?
