Sims 2 double deluxe.....CONFUSED!!??

I installed sims 2 double deluxe and the tutorial bonus disc works but the actual GAME doesn't work it says something about directx 9.0c and i want to know how to download it (onto a pen drive, then put it onto a pc to install) then use it for my game, I'm really confused please help i payed 29.99 for this and i am scared i cant get a refund because i live in france and i threw the receipt !!

DirectX is a sort of program that allows the Sims 2 to use your computer to it's fullest, to output a quality image to the screen.

If the error message is this one:

CANT FIND DIRECTX 9.0c COMPATIBLE GRAPHICS ADAPTERS

then the problem is not with directx 9.0c but with your graphics card, which doesn't support the directx 9.0c features needed to run the game. Your only option in that case is to get a supported graphics card. (listed on the box).
