Sims 2 question.? [plz help]?

Question

I went to the sims 2 website and downloaded a sim. But when I go in the game I can not find it. I know where to look for it so thats not the problem. Its just not there. So how to I make it show up?

I found downloads in the sims 2 folder on my computer I just don't know what to do from there?

usually sims are package files so if you download,extracted and then double click the icon and a blue box came up and you clicked installed it should be in your game and if it came back saying you didn't have the required expansion packs then it didn't install.. so if it said it was installed successfully then it should be there and if you have other ep's make sure you enabled custom content if you did everything right and it didn't show up...then i dunno some stuff just doesn't show up sometimes well its happened it me before
