I had the sims game when I was younger, and I dunno if it screwed up my computer or not because it was kinda already screwed up in the first place. I'm thinking of getting the game again. Is it going to s***w up my week-new computer or is it going to work fine?

  1. Theres nothing wrong with the game, possibly a virus on the computer itself and not the game unless you downloaded via torrent (illegal) or used a bootleg copy (also illegal) other than that it should work just fine.

  2. I don't know for sure, but it might. I've had Sims 2 for about five years and three computers. The first computer was three years old and a bit slow but otherwise fine, I only used Sims 2 on it for a couple of months but the computer did deteriorate (got slower, got more error messages etc). The second computer was state of the art. I used Sims on it for a few months and then it crashed and it was a complete disaster for the following three years (I must've changed every component there was and it still worked like c**p.) Still, I figured it was coincidence, right? Why would a legally bought game cause computer problems? But now I have a new computer (got it last week). I installed Sims 2 (I'm an optimist, what can I say? And I really love the game) and my computer is starting to act... odd. I don't know if it's the Sims game or not that's causing it but I do see a pattern emerge. I have downloaded some custom content (from reputable sites), but no hacks so that can't be the problem.

  3. Unless your downloading hacks for your sims, it's not bad. It may make your computer slower, depending on your RAM. I just got a new comp and it runs fine with my sims 2.

  4. You shouldn't worry about it. I've got the Sims 2 as well as every Stuff pack and Expansion pack, and my laptop works great. I've never had a problem with the Sims on any computer.

Jacinda: Many people believe that installing big games like the Sims will slow down their computers, but that's just not true! Computers do not work that way. It will only slow down your computer while you have the game running.

  5. No, The Sims is not bad for the computer but some of the cheats can cause glitches in game play. My friend called EA once when her game was not playing correctly anymore; and it was because the cheats her brother over-used trashed the game. She never was able to restore her game play fully.
