  1. Sint Maarten was one of the nicest Caribbean islands we visited.  We found beautiful handmade table linens and knitted goods at excellent prices.  The children in colorful uniforms going to and from the schools were just wonderful to see.  The beaches were very clear and warm.  We did a lot of walking tours, since we were on a cruise ship, not in a hotel.  We are shoppers and sightseers rather than thrill-seekers, so that's where we concentrated our attention.

  2. hey there, i guess most of your questions have been answered by the previous response, but just to let u know i've been to sint maarten/st martin in the month of April and the weather was great... there are plenty casinos on the dutch side if u like to gamble, or if ur feeling adventurous u could take a ferry to neighbouring anguilla, where the beaches are beautiful. i believe there is a dolphin sanctuary there too, where u can swim with dolphins. st maarten is a great place, and as u probably know it's nickname is 'the friendly island'.

  3. I stayed at the Royal Palm Beach Resort last year. It's a time share resort and it was finished being renovated while we were there. It's very nice. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite and it was lovely. Kitchen area, 2 bedroom, 2 bath, living area and beachfront balcony.

The beach is very nice with cabanas. The pool is small but it has a swim up bar. Nice lounge chairs around the pool.

It's located in a wonderful area, Simpson Bay. Plenty of great restaurants you can walk to. We did rent a car so we could explore all the different beaches and go into Philipsburg. Car rental prices are very reasonable.

The food is excellent. Great duty free shopping in Philipsburg. the beaches are all very beautiful. The locals are nice and friendly.

A must do is a day trip to Anguilla from Margot. You can also take the ferry to St Barts.  Anguilla is beautiful.

There are casinos, great bars, night clubs and lots of night life action on St Maarten.  Oh, check out Sunset Beach Bar. You can watch the planes land as they fly over Maho Beach. That is a very interesting. Bring your camera.

There are clothing optional beaches on the french side (St Martin) Orient beach is very popular for topless bathing. The French don't find this offensive like the US does.

You will see some topless bathing on the Dutch side (St Maarten) but not as much

April will be a good time to travel. Prices should come down after spring break.

Here are a couple of link to learn more about the island
