Skateboarding in Tokyo?

Are there any good places to skate in Tokyo? I'll be there in January and would like to be able to go directly to a spot and not waste any precious time. I've seen a lot of footage of a spot that's near a large ferris wheel, i think it's near Tokyo harbor, is this correct? Thanks for any answers...

I use to live in the Yoyogi-koen area. There are a lot of skateboarders practicing and putting some stages that has loops. (whatever you call it). There are also some at the Harbor area and in Odaiba.

I'm curious why you'd go all the way to Japan simply to skateboard...

I searched online using Japanese google and I found this place to be the top result and looks great for skateboarding.

In case you can't read Japanese, the place is called JO-NANJIMA KAIHIN KOEN (JO-NANJIMA Beach Park) 城南島海浜公園.

The address is Tokyo, Ota-ku, Jo-jan jima, 4-2-2. It's basically a campground + park by the beach.

According to the website, it's free to use their skate park.

They're open from 8:30 to 5pm in January (their hours vary monthly) and they're closed on Wednesdays.

You have to go to their office to register for the first time and get a sticker to put on your helmet. You don't need to go to the office from the second time and on but they'll be checking for your sticker on the helmet. No smoking, no food/drink allowed, except for bottled water.
