Skateboarding to surfing...?

How similar is riding a longboard/shortboard skateboard to surfing a wave?

dude skateboarding and surfing are two totally different things and shouldnt even be used in the same sentence!!!!!!!!!

I guess it would be very similar if the ground were moving, but since the ground doesn't move, like water does, it's nothing to be compared.

not at all.  surfing is unlike anything you have ever done.. with the exception of the fact that you stand in about the same position.  its not flat, predictable concrete.  it is a fluid, ever changing ocean.

they definitely have their similarities. i per fer surfing over skating though because you are able to enjoy nature more. also with surfing it tends to hurt less when you fall unless you are surfing bigger waves with more power but even then you choose the conditions you surf in. surfing is hard to describe you have to just try it.
