Sketching help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Question

I can somewhat sketch but i need some advice, i don't like drawing manga, and all that still life and stuff, just little doodles, problem is i cant think of anything..... my mind goes blank the second i think of sketching something, anyone got any tips to get my creative mind flowing.thanks 8D

Sketching and drawing are only preliminary steps to painting and should be an exercise to learn observation of things around in your environment.

The key word is observation, it is most important. Do any sketching; still life and things (even if you don't like it) for it will sharpen and help your concentration. To get into the mood to draw/sketch you must loosen up by doing anything on paper of all that you see around you. If you want only to sit and create from your mind something you better have something you personally experienced in order to visualize it on the paper. Take an object, any simple form and copy it, then turn the paper and do it from memory, this will train your eye and hand so you will sketch THAT item automatically.

i clear my mind by taking a walk or going hiking try just going out and bring your sketch pad, when you see somthing u think you might be able to draw, draw it

Well, if you like drawing manga, try drawing an OC character from your favorite anime =)

Example:

I like Shugo Chara. I made a shugo chara OC named Akiko Nakano. Her gaurdian Chara's name is Harumi. You give them a special look, personality, and a whole entire background.

What I do whenever I get a new sketch book is draw out all the different types of eyes, noses, mouths, ears, heads, body types etc. That I can think of, so that when I go to draw and my mind goes blank I just mix and match all those parts. Also, I like to look at other peoples styles of drawing and use their kinds of eyes or noses etc. Sometimes you can even start making random shapes for certain body parts and see what happens.
