Question:

Skill testing questions in contests?

What happens if you can't answer the question? I ask because my arithmetic is awful, and the questions are always arithmetic. Why do they use arithmetic instead of, say, basic grammar questions? I have no trouble with those.

  1. I think they may ask you a different question if you couldnt do it until you got one right?

It is because by law for whatever reason in canada, they arent actually allowed to give big prizes away for free..

if i can find more info ill edit this :)

  2. If you get it wrong, you have lost.  They can't give it to you because that is the law/rules, and doing so is unfair to other entrants.

Math is a bit easier as it is a definite right answer, and math is a common skill across cultures, age ranges, etc.  I enter a lot of Movie related contest and sports related contests find the skill testing question is then sports or movie trivia.

  3. There is no rule that says you can't use a calculator.

  4. It is the law in Canada that these contests must use a skill testing question.  The arithmetic questions are usually quite easy and almost impossible to get wrong.   They are written down and you can use pen and paper or a calculator if you need to.  Don't worry about it.  If it is a contest where you have to mail it in, you can ask for help.  Best of luck.
