What kind of skills does a good leader have? And what are important skills that a leader should have? AND why are those skills important for a leader to have?

  1. Number one: Communication. All good leaders have excellent communication skills. It's hard to get anything done if your subordinates don't know what you want.

    Number two: Delegation. Nobody can do it all. Skilled delegators pick the right person to handle a task, assign sufficient authority, materials, and training if need be, along with the responsibility to get the job done.

    Then they follow up on the task and track it's progress. If there are problems the leader needs to know. It is also the leader's responsibility to ensure the subordinate has sufficient resources to accomplish the task.

    Planning and organization. Subordinates perform better when they know what the goal is, how they're going to get there, and when they are clear about who is who in the organization.

    And so on.
