Skimboarding Question?

I was wondering if it is neccesary to have sand if I want so skimboard on tarp?

If the tarp is very slick and shiny, no, you don't need sand, just water. The tarp should be larger than 20 X 20 feet and made of very shiny vynil. then have someone spray fine jets of water just above the tarp and have at it.
