  3. Skinny is definitely more negative than thin.

    Thin always seems more fact like or even like a positive attribute.

    Skinny, seems to me, to be more of a snide remark disguised as pleasant. It's like a word people, that are unhappy with their weight, use to make them feel slightly better (as if the "skinny" person is abnormal or as negatively seen as a "fat" person). It's kind of a jealousy thing.
