  1. During warfare, in some battles Slavic soldiers refused to follow their Austro-Hungarian overlords - often en masse - which led to the disintegration of the Empire.

  3. Serbia wanted total independence.  It was Serbs who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand the leader of Austro-Hungary.  This was one of the reasons that World War I started.
