Sleep for months ?

Is it possible for doctors to "put someone under" & they sleep for months? instead of a few hours? weird i know, but just a question.

I would think it's possible keeping a constant supply of the drug that keeps a person under. Though I'm no doctor myself but i would guess a person could die from an overdose if they did keep someone under that long.

I have heard of them puting people into a coma. It helps them to heal better/faster or something when they have really traumatic injuries

now -this is only in movies.  an "induced coma" is for medical purposes only (ie: brain swelling, etc).
