hello! i am having a bit of a problem - ok a big problem with depression and energy right now. my sleep patterns have been off for maybe 8 months. i couldn't go to sleep until 7 am saturday morning, and that was with meds. i want to get a part time job bc i feel the schedule would help my sleep - but it's a catch 22, it's hard to look for a job when my sleep is so off. i know exercise will help, but i am right in the middle of a depressive episode and my energy is almost at zero. but i still can't sleep. any good ideas on how to get back to a more normal schedule? i've tried staying up 24 hours, trying to work myself into tired but nothing seems to work. i drink a glass of milk, take meds to help with anxiety, but i just can't get on a good path.

  1. I have had the same problem. It is really hard to get back on a regular sleep pattern when you have depression because the smallest thing gets your sleep out of whack. The biggest thing is routine. Get up at the same time EVERY day. No matter if it is a weekend or weekday. Its going to be one of the best things for you I promise. For people without depression it is easier for them to stay on a normal pattern of sleep if they sleep in or go to sleep late a day or two of the week but for people with it it is almost impossible! Just start getting up every day of the week and in a couple weeks your body will start adjusting. As far as going to sleep the best thing is to not stress out about it. If you find that you can't get to sleep just lay in bed and breathe deep and don't stress. Here is a breathing technique that might help. 8 deep breathes on your right side, 8 on your left side, and then 12 on your back. I don't even get to all of them usually I fall asleep haha. Hope this helps.

  2. Taking Authority over Your EmotionsEmotions are an area that many Christians don’t understand. Because of this, Believers often allow their emotions to lead them. As a result, emotionally-led decisions take them on a course that is out of the will of God for their lives. While God gave every human being emotions, it is critical that we get control over negative emotions and subject them to the Word of God. Make these daily confessions so that you can subject your feelings to God’s Word and make the right decisions:

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me healthy emotions. I declare that negative emotions will not impact my decisions, neither will they dictate my responses to difficult circumstances. I will submit my feelings to You in every situation that I encounter in life. You have given me authority over the power of the enemy, and I declare that nothing shall by any means hurt me, including people and situations that try to negatively influence my emotions. When I feel overwhelmed by life, or troubled by negative emotions, like Jesus, I will pray and keep moving forward  I bind depression, anxiety, worry, fear, doubt, anger, rejection and any other negative emotion that tries to attack my mind. I possess power, love and a sound mind. I thank You, Father, that I walk in peace, joy and the comfort of the Holy Ghost. I have the mind of Christ and my emotions are controlled by the Word of God. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

  3. I had overwhelming anxiety and insomnia. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda.

I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. The package doesn't have to say Splenda to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might still be using it and don't even know it!

Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia and more.

Go ahead, google: anxiety splenda or anxiety sucralose or insomnia splenda or insomnia sucralose

The slogan, "Made from sugar..." is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air

  4. Relaxation can help a great deal. It's highly underrated since everyone thinks it's so easy. Proper deep relaxation can help boost your immune system, recharge your batteries and reduce anxiety and stress.

Deep relaxation is not sitting in front of the telly or reading a book even. In fact reading, watching TV and especially surfing the net are highly stimulating for the brain.

Try meditation or a long hot bath. Focus on deep breathing and relaxing the muscles. Get a massage if you can.

Exercises such as Yoga are fantastic at reducing stress and making oneself feeling good and relaxed.
