Sleepers in fantasy football this year?

the bears have alot of sleepers no one wants to take chances on because well they are bears: but Greg olsen TE (will probably start) forte RB (will start as a rookie) Hester (has a chance to start andthe coach is trying to get the ball to him at LEAST 30 times a game)

Anyone else you think will have a big impact and will be a steal in late rounds?

  1. Perhaps, but then again I'm a Bears fan like you, and it's the pre-season, so of course I'm optimistic.

I'd say one of them is worth taking a risk on, but I wouldn't want to do all 3.

Remember what happened to Dante Hall when he went from return stud to WR?  He fell off.  Not saying it will happen to Hester, but Turner isn't exactly an OC who gives me a lot of confidence.

On Olsen: He's one bright spot in a dingy offense.  There's no legit #1 WR, an unstable QB situation, and he's splitting snaps with another receiving TE (Clark, who was a WR in college).  He'll draw attention because of his talent, and because of the Bears lack of surrounding talent to act as diversion.

On Hester: I'm still optimistic here, but last year he had a very limited playbook, and still struggled with running crisp routes, remembering where to line up, and had poor body mechanics when a pass did come his way.  I think some of that is learning curve, but I think some of that is because Hester is an instinctual player, and the WR position is a cerebral one.  I'm not sure he has the mental firepower to get it done, especially drawing #1CBs.

On Forte: He's an unproven rookie behind a patchwork line (not a bad line, but I don't think they'll be a great one...even Williams, who should be a formidable talent for years to come, is more of a pass-blocker than a run-blocker, which doesn't help).  He has no passing game to take off pressure, and an uncreative OC who couldn't hold a college job and whose presence in the NFL is, in my mind, questionable.  Additionally, he's being over-hyped on fantasy sites everywhere...I think he'll be decent, he's talented and can play in all phases of the offense (run, catch, block) but I think he's on too many radars...I doubt he out-performs his draft position.  I'd take him as a RB3 and no higher, a lot of people are banking on him as their RB2.  I don't have that confidence, not yet.

  2. I don't see Forte as a sleeper, I see him as a disappointment. I'd say a steal, even though it might be in the first couple rounds, is Ryan Grant (RB, Packers).

  3. These are my sleeper predictions:

    QB: Jake Delhomme

    RB: Deangelo Williams

    WR: Santonio Holmes

    TE: Alge Crumpler

Also dont overlook Steve Smith. He may slip through the cracks in alot of drafts. He didn't perform well in fantasy leagues last year due to the fact there was no solid backup QB behind Delhomme. Delhomme is healthy now so look for Smith to put up numbers around the ones he put up in the first 3 weeks of last season when Delhomme was playing.

  4. I think some sleepers are QB Jake Delhomme, RB DeShaun Foster, WR Justin Gage, WR Jerricho Cotchery, TE Heath Miller, WR Santana Moss, RB Sammy Morris, K Neil Rackers, K Jay Feely, D/ST Giants, WR, Amani Toomer, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, RB Deuce McAllister, QB Kellen Clemens, QB Jason Campbell, and QB Matt Leinart.

Those are a few sleepers who may have a breakout/good season as bench players or possibly low end starters. Those guys are more of late/final round steals or players that may be solid off the waiver wire towards the middle of the season.

Not really middle round sleepers like QB Garrard, RB Julius Jones, and some of those rookie wideouts like James Hardy and Devin Thomas.

  5. Fred Taylor

  6. Heare are my top sleepers at each position

    QB Garrard

RB R.Johnson everyone will write him off after last yr but he's only 28

    WR Bowe

    TE Crumpler

    K Dawson

    D/ST Buffalo

  7. WR - Brandon Marshall, Santonio Holmes

    RB - Julius Jones

QB - David Garrard, Jay Cutler

    Just a few thoughts...
