OK, before you start judging I am usually quite knowledgeable with computer networking but I am stuck with a problem I cannot currently solve. I require a community to help.

Here are the distinct details- I am currently in O2 Broadband (LAN) but they gave me free a Thomson wireless and ADSL router for use with a LAN and WLAN at one home. The router's specs are...

Interface Enabled: Yes

Physical Address: 00:1D:68:0A:41:F5

Network Name (SSID): Amendra O2 Wireless

Interface Type: 802.11g

Actual Speed: 54 Mbps

Band: 2.4G Hz

Allow New Devices: New stations are allowed (automatically)

Security Mode: WPA-PSK.

Simple details for you. My problem is the following- my LAN's access to the internet is working so not an ISP problem but unfortunately the wireless access (overall) is not computing. I tried connecting to it with variable wireless enabled peripherals, it was detected sometimes but later simply disconnects. The message from Vista on my laptop is...

  1. Need additional details...

You say you have a ADSL router and a Thomson wireless (The thomson wireless connects to your ADSL router?).

Also please disable any security mode on either system until we can work out the issues you are having.  Once you are able to access the internet we can re-enable security and work foward.  This will allow us to make sure the router/wireless configuration is working with your ISP.

Also please go to a command prompt on your laptop

and type the following command.  Then post the information back here.

type the following at the CMD prompt

    ipconfig /all

I would be happy to further help you troubleshoot this if you can provide additional details.

  2. Hi,

A good idea would be to try changing your router's "Wireless Channel" to Channel 4 (or other) as most other channels are affected by interference from house hold items such as microwaves, wireless phones etc.

If this does not fix the issue try other Channels

    I hope this helps.

Edit: Glad i could help =)
