what is the smallest professional photography camera you know of? and good for taking gigs and stuff like that.

The smallest quality camera I know of is the Canon Rebel XT digital SLR (350D) and I Have shot weddings with it. But the lenses are quality as well and not the stock lens

Visit your local camera store and look the Nikon D40 and Canon XTi.

Hold them in your hands and see which fits your style of shooting the best ... both are available with a 18-55 mm lens which is just fine for shooting weddings and other events.

That said, those two cameras are entry level DSLR's ... not professional cameras.

The two pro cameras available right now are the Nikon D3 and Canon 1Ds Mark III, neither are small, but excellent for shooting "gigs" and other stuff.
