Smart cars in america?

i heard that they have started selling them, but i certainley haven't seen any on the lots of car dealerships!! but have seen a few driving around town, and i want one!! are the for sale in america yet and if so are they on the east coast yet?

they got them in east hartford, connecticut.  they sell them in a mercedes dealership.

I wouldn't get excited.  They're expensive for what you get, which is typical of European stuff these days.  I saw them in Europe a few years ago, and they were mostly driven by people who valued them for their looks, much like what you see with the Mini-Cooper.  

There are far niftier small cars on the market in Europe, but they don't sell them here.  My favorites are the ones with the two-cylinder diesel and a belt drive.  Tiny things, and you get a million miles to a gallon.
