Hi. A year ago i had an examination and my doctor was worried and sent me for a smear which was a little abnormal. And then i went for a colposcopy. This result then came back as "none significant". Has anyone Else had this? I have been told to go back 6months later, I haven't went. Why? I dunno i'm not scared tho. So i got told again a few weeks ago to go back and i cancelled. Maybe i am scared anyway what i am wondering is has anyone else had this Non significant result? I didn't have it explained only really in letter. Does it mean normal thereof? Thanks..xx

  1. Sometimes it just means that they did the smear wrong, I have had this happen and it was an improper smear

  2. i had one irregular smear it could be a number of things if you have s*x the night before it throws it off they might could have done it wrong etc. . .  but in 6 months you should go back and make sure the next one is fine and then theyll probably make you do 1 more in the next 6 months and then back on your every year schedule

  3. If they told you to go back in 6 months that is what you should have done.  Cell changes in your cervix can happen really quickly, they need to keep an eye on it.

Go back to your doctor.  The fact that the colposcopy came back normal is a good sign, they just want to double check it.

  4. hi, I have had two colposcopys with ab cells, a none significant result basically means that any visable changes to the cells in your cervix are undefined and could revert back to normal that is why they tend to leave it for 6 months and watch and wait, unfortunately for me my cells developed and I had to have further treatment so please go back and make sure you get checked out even just for piece of mind, better to be safe than sorry. It can take years for any ab cells to develop in to cancer so please try not worry but go get that check up.Good Luck.

  5. I've Been through the same thing.  BUT you must go back and have regular tests just in case one day they do find anything. For years I kept getting abnormal results, then ok ones, it was just the way my body worked, but cervical cancer is not something to be taken lightly, so be brave , back to the Docs.
