  1. When u play the flam accent make sure that what ever hand u start the note with u finish the flam with the opposite hand. And when u play the the second beat of the note (ex. a triplet) play that with the same hand as you finish the flam accent with. Just dont make the note a double u dont want to play it with your fingers like a double this stroke is in the wrist. Also if u start off with triplets and play them super slow with this sticking pattern, the double letters are the first and second hand of the flam. (RL L R, LR R L, RL L R, LR R L). If you start that slow and get the feel you can start to speed it up when u get comfortable.

  2. Start off with just playing alternating flams at a slow yet reasonable tempo. Playing with a metronome will help. Make sure your flams are consistent and that the grace note is heard distinctly from the accent but not too far. Then add a tap so that you're playing an eighth not pattern, taking care to accent the flam.

Flam Taps:  lR r     rL l

Then add the third note and make it triplets. The notes must compress slightly now to make room for the new note. This is the flam accents. Remember to keep the flam's primary accented note high and the taps low.

    lR l r  rL r l

You can continue on to flam paradiddles using the same method and you can even make it an exercise. I do:

    8 counts flams

    8 counts flam-taps

    8 counts flam accents

    8 counts flam paradiddles

Now You're probably tired of reading so I'm done now.  Good Luck!!!
