  1. Mt Hotham reported 25cm of snow on 2 July, giving a total layer of 29cm.  More rain is predicted for the area next week, so should result in more snowfalls.  You should be OK for mid to late July.

  2. At Falls Creek, Mt Hotham and Mt Buller they have reasonable snow now and all have snowmaking facilities. Mid to late July is the peak snow period so you should be OK then and they'll use the snowmakers to top it up if necessary.

  3. Yes there will be enough snow in the mountain areas because Melbourne alps have just had a big dumping of snow.

  4. Many lodges have a no snow policy where you can cancel your booking and get your money back if there are less then five lifts open. If you go in the peak season the snow will be better, there will also be more people though. If you go off peak it will cost less. Check out the mount Hotham official site; www.mthotham.com.au it has all the info you need including snow fall watch and lodge info.

    Hope this helps

  5. Hey i live in australia - melbourne, there's enough snow for skiing right now and the dates you've booked are in our peak season so you should be safe (although you never know with our weather; it can do a 360 in 24 hrs)

    hope you have fun!!!

  6. You are going in the dead of winter & I guess snow there is like snow anywhere....more specifically, WEATHER, so it's just difficult to know. I've been during many different months & even the beginning of Sep. there was snow, but even though I happen to live in Colorado, I don't ski, snowboard, or do any other activity (any more that is!) that involves snow, and living in the Denver metro area to honestly doesn't really snow here in town much at all, but it snows like h**l in the mountains!! You can golf in the AM in town, then go snow skiing in the mountains in the PM if you want. But we still get more snow here in our mountains than I've even seen or know of happening in Oz but that's because the highest mountains in Oz aren't as high in altitude as the ones here in CO.

So going the end of July I'd say you basically can't go wrong. But I'm not a meteorologist & even if I were I'd still not be able to predict with 100% ANYTHING about the weather. It's gotta be easiest in Hawaii, is what I think!! Otherwise, good luck, have fun, and if you delay your trip HOPING for more/better snow and it 's already come & is now going, well, guess you can't get that time back....!!!!

Have fun, good luck, and don't try to overplan something you can't control!!
