  1. go 2 college

  2. You won't be able to make a year-round living off it because of the seasonal nature of the sport.  The pay isn't enough to really live off once the first season glow wears off and you want to buy a home or go on holiday.

Go to school and enjoy learning something and keep on ridin & teaching when you can.

  3. Go to college, teaching in any area is a minimum wage situation, unless you are at the top of the private book list. A few of the top instructors make a living that will support a family, most have other seasonal careers. I was an electrician for 40 years and my ski teaching paid for the gas and the bar bill, the lifts were discounted to the staff, but I still had to eat.

  4. It really depends on what you can do off-season.  If you can can travel to NZ or Chile every summer, you might be able to make a go of it.  However, you will have a very simple lifestyle.  The other issue is that you will be totally out of work if you get hurt.   It is always good to have a backup career.  Go to college to get a trade or degree as a backup and to outfit yourself with skills for your summer work.  You will still be young when you start instructing full-time.  You might also find that instructing part-time is for you.  Good luck!

  5. go to college.  snowboard intructors get paid c**p, as you already know.  ask some snowboard instructors who have been doing it for a long time how much they get paid, and imagine trying to support a family on that pay.

  6. i wish, best you can do is go to a school near a mountain and be a snowboard instructor part time. believe me if you could live off it id be doing it right now. im so sad its warm out now...
