  1. Well for startes the width, stance and lenght of your board is important if you want optimal performance. Use this calculator :

You will also need bindings and a helmet and goggles. The salesman can help you with that, I already worked in a snow/surf/skate shop and we did it all the time with newcomers. Bindings are always your shoe size. Snowboards are usually 300$ , but there are cheaper ones, bindings can be around 20$, goggles around 12$ and a helmet can go up to 40$ , but where I worked there was only brand named gear. So you'll probably find some cheaper.

  2. Go to the local board shop and see if they have any swap program

they'll take your board and give you a used one but its free

if you buy a new board its going to cost a lot more than 150-200

use your money to buy better boots and bindings

  3. im starting aswell and saving up for a burton feather. their good apparently and are pretty cheap (about 400)  i only had c**p board too so hopefully thisll be better!!!

  4. If you want to buy a snowboard that will last you a long time, expect to spend around 600 dollars for the board boots and bindings. You can try www.sierratradingpost.com and maybe you can find some of last years products at a lower wholesale price. Bindings aren't 20 dollars and they usually run on the upwards of 100 dollars.
