while "Astral Traveling" is about as real as the Tooth Fairy, there is a phenomenon you can experience yourself which I believe is at least partially responsible for the whole AT thing.

lay on your back in a dark room, with a single lamp several feet away from your bed towards the head.  With your eyes closed, concentrate on the light.  See the light thru your eyelids and see its direction above your head.  At this point if you are doing it right, you will be in a lite hypnotic state and with very little suggestion, can experience the light moving... even feeling the 'floating' sensation as your concentration is on the light and not on the weight of your body in bed.

Some people even feel dizzy as the perceived light spins around, motion sickness from BELIEVING they are moving.

I can't astral travel..but I think I've heard people say they do notice things at places...maybe people's houses ..and tell them about it after they come back...without going to their houses.  Even Jesus told somebody..I think it was Philip...that He saw him under the (fruit) tree....I don't know the exact quote.I also have heard of people who other people saw while they were astral traveling.

Edit..I forgot to mention this.Years ago...my husband did this a few times. He was really excited about it happening..till he saw an old lady come out of the closet. Scared him so bad he said he'd never try to do it again. We didn't know anything about astral travel..not even the name for it.

That would settle the astral travel vs. dream thing wouldn't it?  However, as with many other paranormal beliefs not supported by evidence, true believers would just warp the real world to fit the belief rather than base their belief on reality.

Sure, of course, your physical body doesn't go anywhere, besides how is my physical body supposed to leave the room if you've got me locked in?   Oh, that's right if you locked my bedroom door I could let myself out because it locks from the INSIDE.  But if you locked it, then you would have to be on the inside and then how would you go put the pineapple on the kitchen bench?  Is this a trick question?! lol  Ã¢Â™Â¥

EDIT:  What if pineapples aren't in season, what would you put instead?  Could I request a mango?  I like mangoes....

It depends on where I was travelling doesn't it?  If I was out visiting some people in the middle of the African continent, then no, I would not notice the pineapple, and a locked door is hardly noticeable even when people are awake.  Like, what if I decide to go through the house wall instead of my front door?

If you did lock things and put a pineapple somewhere, I might be able to see you more than the lock or the fruit.  And I would go "what is this guy doing in my house?" and probably get up to find out.
