  1. This clearly isn't your fault, it's the teachers fault for being careless. I would go to the head of the school and explain the situation to him, and possibly even bring your parents in to back you up.

Whatever the outcome though, if you studied hard for that test, it is him who is in the wrong and not you. And even if you don't get the grade you want out of it all, remember that you studied hard for economics and are a talented person, and you don't need him or his tests to tell you that.

  2. If your in college, go speak to your adviser and then go to the dean of your school. You should not get penalized for you teacher's absent mindedness.

if your in HS - talk to your teacher again, if s/he is unresponsive go speak to your guidance counselor.

  3. It would take a lot less energy and time to just retake the test again. if you had studied properly and understand the material you will likely do just as well, if not better the second time around.

Though it's irresponsible for him to lose your test, it's not like it'd be right for him to give you an A without you actually deserving it, and since he has no fair way of knowing how well you did on the test, it makes sense to have you retake it.

  4. The best thing to do is retake the test. If you argue with the teacher...they may not give you a chance to retake it and give you a zero for it. If you got an A...you'll probably get an A again. You may even make a better grade.

Keep in mind that a teachers job is very stressful and that with many students...they do make mistakes every now and then. At least they're giving you the chance to retake it because they know they made a mistake.

  5. How much time passed between the B+ and D- ?

  6. That's really not fair.  That's pretty careless of him and it shouldn't be your responsibility to have to retest.

There's not reason he should give you an A, but personally I think he should just not make those points count towards your grade and leave your grade as it is now, if you are willing to agree to that.  If you really want to fight it, i'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened to a teacher so there has got to be a procedure the school goes by.
